How good does a Stradivarius Cello that is more than 300 years old sound?
Come and find out at
Masterclasses with the Mercer-Park Trio
on October 7 or October 8, 2010.

The Southern Ontario Chamber Music Institute (SOCMI) invites you and your students to very special Masterclasses with the Mercer-Park Trio, October 7 at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Parish Hall 1382 Ontario Street, Burlington or October 8 at St Cuthbert's Anglican Church, 1541 Oakhill Drive, Oakville.

The trio comprises multi-award winning musicians, violinist Akemi Mercer, pianist Angela Park and cellist Rachel Mercer. Rachel plays the Stradivarius "Bonjour "cello, built in 1696 and on loan from the Canada Council. The trio will play works by Brahms, Haydn and Ravel. The score for the work to be studied at the masterclasses will be forwarded to teachers in early September. Both Akemi and Rachel are alumnae of SOCMI.

Student charge is $10.00. Teachers $25.00. No charge for teachers who bring five (5) or more students. Class time on both dates is 6.30 p.m. with a public concert to follow at 8:00 p.m. All masterclass attendees are welcome to stay for the public concert at no charge. For planning purposes, please register your interest with Brian McCulloch prior to September 24 at brian.mcculloch@rogers.com or 416-726-3635.
