Ann Vallentyne Memorial Scholarship Fund 2011
The Southern Ontario Chamber Music Institute has established a scholarship fund for aspiring violin, viola and cello students. The Ann Vallentyne Memorial Scholarship Fund will provide cash awards of $500.00 to each of four students attending the Institute’s summer program, held at Appleby College. Awards will be made on the basis of musical ability of the applicants as determined by a jury of professional chamber musicians.
The fund has been established as a result of a bequest from Ann Vallentyne, a cellist, founding Institute director and long-time active supporter who introduced many young string players to the idea of applying their talents to the art of the small string ensemble, principally the string quartet. Mrs. Vallentyne passed away in April 19, 2009.
